The Pestilence

"The world's evils seethe with anger!"

The Pestilence is a Hardmode invasion-style event. It has a chance to trigger randomly after defeating all three mechanical bosses, or may be initiated manually by using a Putrid Lure in either The Corruption or The Crimson. While active, several new enemies themed around both evil biomes will spawn to attack the player; the event is only considered active while in a world evil biome, and while existing enemies will follow players out of the world evil, no new ones will spawn until they return. Once the event is cleared by defeating enough enemies, the Esophage will automatically spawn; however, it is not technically considered part of the event and its defeat is not required to count it as cleared.

While the event is active, its exclusive music Greater Evil will play; if the Polarities Mod Music sidemod is not enabled, the vanilla track Goblin Army will play instead.
