The Observer Orb is a Pre-Hardmodeorb that is dropped by the Rift Denizen. It summons a stationary rift minion that deals no damage on its own, instead creating a circular aura that grants all other minions a 25% chance to deal a critical hit to any enemies in its range. The aura will expand over time and has no hard upper limit to its size, but slows down gradually the larger it is. Like all orbs, the channeled minion will only exist for as long as the ⚒ Use / Attack key is held, disappearing immediately when it is released.
The weapon cannot receive modifiers because of the zero damage value it has.

The sprite of the rift minion always faces the player, as if it were 'observing' them. When the player is at a greater height than it, the sprite is flipped vertically so it looks like it's looking up.
The Observer Orb is one of several weapons in the Polarities Mod that has a zero damage value, which is hidden from the item's hover text.
