The Mineshaft is a unique structure created by the Orchid Mod. It is located in the center of the world, in the Cavern layer below the spawn point. It is made up of several horizontal mining tunnels layered on top of each other with one block gaps between, broken up with larger rooms and vertical shafts that contain ropes. The gaps between the tunnels are made up of stone, dirt and platforms to allow easy access between the tunnels, and can contain ores and Fragile Wood.

In the area around and within the Mineshaft, Static Quartz Crystals can spawn.
The main tunnels of the mineshaft contain placed Bars, Chains and Mineshaft Crates, as well as other caverns loot like Chests, Pots and Life Crystals. A bundle of supplies can also spawn which drops the Escape Rope. On the walls of the Mineshaft, a pickaxe holder can spawn; breaking this will drop the Mineshaft Pickaxe. The Miners Lockbox can spawn in rooms, containing random loot and the Haunted Candle. The Mineshaft is also where the Chemist NPC spawns.

- In previous versions of the mod, the Miners Lockbox would be locked, requiring the player to find a Copper Key to open it.
