The Protective Talisman is a Pre-Hardmode ranged weapon that is consumed on use. It removes one debuff from the user. However, not all debuffs can be affected by this. Exceptions include:

• Self-inflicted debuffs (such as Tipsy, Potion Sickness and Mana Sickness)
• Location-based debuffs (such as Mighty Wind, Water Candle, Creative Shock and Horrified)
• Harmless debuffs (Wet, Stinky and some others)

On hitting an enemy, the thrown Talisman will inflict the Misfortune debuff. Enemies affected by this debuff have a 10% increased chance to be critically hit.

If the Protective Talisman is used without any valid debuffs, the projectile will not inflict Misfortune, and its damage is reduced by 30%.
