Not to be confused with the boss version of Mutant.

Mutant is an NPC vendor that will spawn once the following conditions are met:

• There is an empty house.
• Any boss has been defeated.

When threatened by enemies, it will defend itself depending on the world's progress:

• If the world is in Pre-Hardmode, it will throw an eyeball.
• If the world is in Hardmode, it will throw a mechanical eyeball.
• If Moon Lord has been defeated, it will throw a phantasmal eyeball.
• If the player has defeated Mutant in combat, it will throw The Penetrator, which leaves behind a trail of homing Phantasmal Spheres.

• "Polly" is a name commonly used for parrots, tracing back to the Ben Jonson's comedy Volpone.
• The quote about impending doom approaching is a reference to the Moon Lord, who's message when summoned says 'Impending doom approaches'.
• The quote about being all that the Player needs for a calamity may be a reference to the Calamity Mod.
• The quote about "Apotheosis" is a reference to the weapon of the same name from the Calamity mod, which is dedicated to one of the mod's lead developers.
